Happy New Year from www.sandiegorunner.com! With the new year comes new races, a fresh training schedule, and a chance to improve on the 2010 season. To help jump start the 2011 season, the fine folks over at San Diego USA Track and Field have put together the Winter Track Classic – a three-race series open to competitors of all ages and abilities. Come out and test your pre-season fitness or race events that you have never competed in before!

The first event in the series was held January 22 at Montgomery High School and included some indoor events as well as some rare outdoor distances. The track races began at 10:00 A.M. followed by the shot put, long jump, and high jump field events. The cost was only $10 which gave unlimited event access to the athletes. Photos and results will be posted on www.superheromile.com soon.

The second event in the series will be held on February 12 at Mount Miguel High School in Spring Valley. The cost is only $5 to compete in an unlimited number of events. The 100 and 110 meter hurdles are the first event of the day and begin at 9:00 A.M. A flyer listing the events and times for this meet can be downloaded by clicking here.

The third and final event in the Winter Track Classic series will be February 26 at Patrick Henry High School. Registration begins at 8:00 A.M. with the first event starting at 9:00 A.M. Once again, registration is only $5 per athlete and includes an unlimited number of events. This event focuses on High School distances plus a few extras.
